About Laura Reynolds

Hi! My name is Laura Reynolds and I have been performing & teaching piano professionally since 2005.

Check out my teaching studio here.

I first studied music in Las Vegas, where I also taught and played as an in-house musician for a recording studio. That’s where I hosted the first of many annual piano recital concerts and taught several songwriting workshops.

I learned a lot while working there, and I am grateful for the experience because it was my first break in learning and professionally playing styles outside of classical music. Before, when I studied music in college, their focus was always on classical theory and performance.

My work experience at that recording studio marked the beginning of my development as the musician and teacher I am today.

It showed me the creative pieces I felt were missing and wanted more of and gave me the tools I needed for managing my studio.

From that moment on, I knew what kind of teacher I wanted to be for my students to give them the best of both worlds.

Since then, I have made it my focus in my teaching studio: to teach a well-rounded variety of music, theory, and technical skills.

I want this for each of my students so they can appreciate all the different genres of music and become independent creatives while enjoying learning to play the piano.

I have been composing & arranging professionally since 2012.

I started arranging popular songs for the beginner piano student because many of my students asked to learn a song that often was only available for more intermediate-level students.

Creating these arrangements not only helped them learn and apply what we were already talking about in our lessons, but it also made learning their songs and reading sheet music that much more satisfying to them!

Everything they were learning was suddenly coming together. Music theory wasn’t just separate, random facts anymore.

That’s when I fell in love with this side of creating and expressing music.

Arranging songs for my piano students also led to more serious composing for myself.

You can find out more about my compositions here.

I write my original instrumental music from experiences, emotions, poems, stories, art, and photography.

While studying under other musicians, my original piano compositions have also become jazzier, more expressive, and cinematic. I hope to continue that growth and see where it takes me.

I am releasing the first song of my album Chrysalis soon. Join my mailing list for updates on its release.
